l have used fatwood sticks while backpacking the Pacific Crest Trail from California to Canada. They make it very easy to start a fire. Hand cut in the seaside village of Ventura, Ca.

Fatwood has been used for hundreds of years to start fires because it's naturally soaked in tree resin. Fatwood is non-toxic and safe to handle, no chemicals used here. Ignites instantly and burns very hot, it never lets you down in emergencies. Cut from dead pine stumps left after logging, we never cut live trees. Use to start a fire anywhere, including camp fires and wood stoves. The chips and dust save you time, no need to make tinder, it's already made for you. Perfect for survival kits, backpacking, bug-out kits, hiking, preppers, and camping.

Jute lights on fire very quickly with sparks from a ferro rod. Cut a 2in piece off and fray the end, place on top of fatwood/dust to start a fire instantly. Lights in all kinds of weather, just place on top of some fatwood chips/dust. Use the striker or finger knife to ignite.
