To start a fire, use the scraper to remove the fatwood from the handle, and make a mound about the size of a quarter. Ignite the fatwood dust using the Ferro and striker. Add kindling about the size of your small finger. After the kindling starts burning, add larger pieces of wood to the fire (about the size of your wrist works best). Make sure to collect enough wood for your fire. It burns very fast. You should have a roaring fire in minutes.

You only have about 3 hours in the extreme cold until hypothermia sets in. With this Fatwood tool, you will have the ability to start a fire under any conditions.
